The Aspen Alpaca Company is the home of two Maremma Italian Livestock Guardian dogs. Maremmas, originated in Italy, have been used for over 2000 years as a livestock guard dog. The official name of these majestic dogs is "Cane Da Pastore Maremmano Abruzzese" which means the dog of the shepherd of the Maremmano and Abruzzese regions.These even-tempered dogs do not herd, they only guard livestock from predators.

Enzo came from an Italian import, Vinny, and Gordina, who was born of two Italian parents.Dino, his full brother, came to us a year after Enzo.
